Get personal financial insights and benchmarks you can use.
First produced in 2024, the California State Employees Financial Preparedness Report is designed to give you up-to-date information to benchmark your retirement savings progress, to help you identify opportunities to improve your situation, and to ensure you have access to resources to help you succeed.
Nearly 5,000 members of SEIU Local 1000, CSUEU Local 2579, ACSS and California State Retirees participated in an anonymous, state-wide survey about their personal finances, financial concerns and how prepared they feel on the journey to a secure retirement.
Key findings and insights in the report:
- See how much State employees in your age group have saved for retirement in 2024 and the characteristics of those who are ahead, on track, or behind in their savings goals.
- Get benchmarks you can use by age and career stage—including mean household income, retirement portfolio values, emergency fund totals, and debt.
- Read insights and tips from successfully retired California State Retirees for employees who may feel behind and those getting ready to retire.
- Get expert advice from Certified Financial Planner, Russel L. Phelps III on changing your trajectory, and planning for a successful retirement.
